Revolution Design provide our clients with an innovative, reliable design service for all lightweight marine vehicles and structures small to larger vessels using aluminium & steel.

Our team of naval architects, engineers and designers work together from concept through to research and development providing structural design and analysis, drive line technical specification and layout, naval architecture services and complete drafting and design services.

Revolution Designs collective experience in lightweight aluminium marine structures is evident in the range of wavepiercing catamarans built by Incat. In particular, we created the 96 metre wavepiercer design, which became the only fast ferry in the world able to carry its own weight in payload.

This milestone was achieved through a careful appraisal of the vessel requirements, review of design and full scale data from previous vessels, optimisation of powering of the ship and our rigorous approach to design of the structure.

• Design & Analysis of High Speed Vessels
Revolution Design comply with the complete design survey and classification society requirements of High Speed Craft for lightweight aluminium vessels.

• Structural Engineering of Lightweight Structures & Transport Systems
Our structural design offer: - Finite Element Analysis using local and global structural models - Structural detailing - Strain gauging & fatigue assessment of structures.

Our experience in the fatigue design of aluminium structural details will ensure that your project gets the best combination of lightweight design and strength.

• Vessel Concepts, Economic Analysis & Feasibility Studies
Feasibility studies are undertaken to provide information on suitable vessel types and operating costs for freight & passenger/vehicle routes.
Previous projects have included a range of powering estimates for marine diesel engines, gas turbines and blended fuels.

• Marine Drafting
Employing over 15 experienced marine draftsmen.
Typical deliverables may include:
- structural & mechanical detailing - construction drawings - 3D modelling - general arrangements - timely and cost effective support in lightweight vessel design.

• Full Scale Data Acquisition & Vessel Trials
Full scale data collection on structures and during vessel trials including:
- vessel motions & sea keeping analysis - strain gauging of structures - noise & vibration - real time fatigue monitoring - powering, speed & fuel consumption - Hull Monitoring Systems logging vessel accelerations, hull stresses and wave height.

• Failure Mode Effect Analysis & Risk Assessment for Fast Craft
FMEA documents for ships systems. Risk analysis for specific routes.

• Research & Development Management
project planning advice for R&D grant applicants
management assistance in co-operative R&D project.
